After Care
We take maximum care while you are in treatment to ensure that there are no infections. After Care is essential to obtain the best results treatment.
Everyone is susceptible to infections, so it is important to follow the aftercare instructions carefully.
We will provide you with aftercare instructions on how to manage your treatment areas.

Care instructions following your procedure
To clean your piercing site, mix 1 level teaspoon of salt, to 1 cup of boiling water. Clean morning and night and use a fresh batch of solution every day. Use fresh cotton wool stick.
Risks and precautions
Are you a smoker?
Are you a fly in fly out worker?
Did you get your piercing in summer?

Caring for yourself after your treatment
Taking Zinc and magnesium will help building your immune system to aid the healing process.
Putting 3% Diluted Hydrogen Peroxide onto the healing piercing will help kill any bacteria.
Your follow up appointment
You will need to have a follow up visit 3-4 weeks after your initial appointment in order for your bars to be shortened. Shorting of the bars are important in order to get the best results possible.
If you find you are still struggling with your symptoms, your bar will need to be shorted. The cost of shorting is included in the original cost of the piercing.
Bookings are essential, please book during your initial appointment, book online or call Simone to organise your appointment.
Treatment of infection
If your piercing starts to become inflamed, red, hot or sore you are developing an infection! Do not wait for it to get better; please see your doctor as soon as possible to avoid the infection spreading deeper into the cartilage. Even leaving for just 24 hours could cause the infection to spread further and will become harder to treat.
Your doctor will prescribe you a course of antibiotics. We also recommend using Bactroban Antibiotic Cream on the infected site.
Symptoms to look out for:

Fever

Swelling

Redness

Pain

Itching or burning

Yellow/green pus or discharge from piercing site
Removing your piercing
Top 7 causes of infection
do not remove
Pillows
Dirty pillows are one of the leading causes of infection. Please ensure you are changing your pillow slip every second night. Flip your pillow after the first night to ensure you never rest your piercing on used fabric.
Ensure pets do not sleep on or near your pillow.
Fingers
Please do not fiddle or play with your piercing. Your hands carry a lot of bacteria and touching the piercing may lead to transmission of infection.
If you do touch the piercing site, please ensure you are washing and sanitising your hands before & after.
Hair Products and Hairdressing
Keep your hair as clean as possible. Shampoo and condition regularly to ensure no oil and dirt builds up in your hair.
Rinse your hair thoroughly after washing to avoid slurry and soap grime building up on the piercing site.
Keep hair tided up and away from your piercing to avoid it tangling around the healing site.
Dirty Towels
Swimming Pools and Spas
Avoid private pools or spas for 6 weeks after your appointment.
If swimming, the ocean is one of the better options. Please avoid getting sand in on the piercing site.
Phones
Please sanitize your phone/phone screen regularly. Your phone is a breeding ground for bacteria with your hands touching it all the time, so it is important that these germs are not transferred to your piercing when talking on the phone.
Masks
When removing your mask, be mindful of your piercing site, remove the ear loops carefully.
Ensure you are using a new mask each day.
